What is a 100-point system for Delhi Nursery Admissions?

The 100-point system is a system for admission for Delhi Schools Nursery Admission. Private schools in Delhi release their allotted points to several factors, which together form a total of 100 points. For example, several factors are the distance of home from school, if the child has any siblings admitted to the same school, any parent of the child or both parents are studying in that school, etc. All the schools in Delhi strictly follow this points system guidelines issued by DoE to implement the right to education for all and to make the admission process just.

Here’s a breakdown of how it points system works:

  1. Distance from School (60 Points): This factor rewards children who live closer to the school. Schools usually give the highest number of points to children who live in the nearby area. For example, if you live within a radius of 10 to 15 km from the school, you will get 60 points. Neighbourhood hold the greatest number of points among all the factors. Points allocation vary from school to school.
  2. Siblings (30 Points): If your child has an older sibling already studying in the school, they may get extra points, usually between 10-30 points.
  3. Alumni Status (10 Points): If the child’s one or both of the parents are alumni of the school then the child will be rewarded 10 points.

So, the total point is 100, now if the cut off point for that particular school is 70, then the child’s score has to be above 70 to get admission to that school. There are also different criteria depending on the schools for example girl child, first child, single parent, staff etc. The higher points you get the more chance you have to get admission.
